468: Resurrection in the Blues

Yesterday was Easter.

Yeah… the day we talk about getting up.

Not just in some faraway, holy-story kind of way—but that deep, soul kind of rising. The kind that come after you been knocked down, counted out, left laying in the dirt longer than you should’ve been.

Resurrection.

That ain’t just about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. That’s a mirror if you brave enough to look in it.

Because if you really sit with it…
that story ain’t just His.

It’s yours too.

It’s mine.

It’s all of us.

See, I been thinking… a whole lotta folks walking around here ain’t living—they surviving. Moving, talking, working… but something inside been laid to rest a long time ago.

Dreams buried.
Hope tucked away.
Fire gone cold.

That’s a kind of death too.

And in this country? Lord knows… a lot of that didn’t start with us. Came through history, through struggle, through things we didn’t ask for but had to carry anyway.

But here’s the hard truth, plain and simple—

It don’t matter how you got there.

What matters is… you still got breath.

And if you got breath, you got a shot at getting up.

That’s resurrection.

That’s you deciding, “I ain’t staying down here.”

That’s you shaking off what tried to bury you.
That’s you turning around, even if you been walking the wrong road so long it feel like the only one you know.

You can change direction.

You can start again.

Call it another chapter.
Another level.
Another plateau.

Hell… call it what you want.

Just get up.

Because I see it like this—
the blues ain’t just about pain.

It’s about what you do with it.

You can sit in that blues…
or you can press on it, feel it, learn it… and turn that thing green—turn it into growth, into something alive again.

That’s resurrection in the blues.

Taking what hurt you… and making it sing.

So today, I pray whoever reading this—
you hear more than just words.

I pray something in you stirs.
I pray something in you rises.

Not tomorrow.

Not “one day.”

Today.

Because the world don’t need more folks sleepwalking through life.

We need folks waking the hell up.

Standing up.

Moving different.

Living on purpose.

So yeah… have yourself a wonderful Easter.

But don’t just celebrate resurrection.

Be it.

Now let me ask you—

What part of you been buried…
and what you waiting on to bring it back to life?
