Yeah, man. So I ended up with this little rental car—a 2025 VW Jetta.
Now, back in the day? I used to want a Jetta. Thought they looked sharp as hell, had that slick lil’ style that made you feel like you had some place to be even when you don't.
But lemme tell you—they sure done changed a lot since the ones I used to look at.
This one I got now? Black. Clean.
Looks good, don’t get me wrong.
But I never really been one for black cars. Down here in Alabama, black cars turn into fryin’ pans in the sun. Step in one after it's been sittin’ in that Southern heat? Feel like you just walked into a damn toaster.
Not to mention—they hard to see at night, especially on them dark, backwoods roads. Ain’t always the safest, you know?
But it is what it is.
I was headed out to Macon, Georgia for a couple of days.
One trip. One mission.
So I figured, “Let me see what this little booty can do.”
And you know what?
I get in this Jetta, start cruisin’... and I gotta admit:
It rides real nice.
Kinda smooth. Kinda peppy.
And that gas mileage?
Over 50 miles per gallon.
Say what now? That’s somethin’ I gotta respect. Blew my mind.
It’s got all them modern car features too—you know the ones that beep and flash and try to tell you how to drive. Some of it useful, some of it just annoying, but still... for a rental? Not bad at all.
Trunk surprised me too.
Bigger than I expected.
Held all my bags, a mic stand, and a duffel full of blues , suitcase , with room to spare.
That’s what I call travelin’ right.
But would I buy one?
Nah, probably not.
Not that it ain’t a good car—it’s solid, reliable, clean-looking.
But it ain’t quite me.
It’s like a cool blues riff you hear on somebody else’s record—you respect it, but it don’t hit your soul the way yours does.
Maybe next trip I’ll try somethin’ different.
Somethin’ with a lil’ more bite.
Somethin’ that growls when you hit the gas instead of whisperin.
Still, shout out to the VW Jetta.
Cool little blues bugger.
Handled the road.
Did its job.
And for a two-day ride to Macon?
It was just fine.
What kind of ride do you like for road trips?
