Here I go, slippin’ off down the road to the beer store, not thinkin’ much of nothin’ but gettin’ it done. Sky was cloudy, sure, but that ain’t unusual around here this time of year.
I’m cruisin’ through Limestone County, Alabama—wind pickin’ up a little—when I hear ‘em.
Them loud tornado sirens.
Loud as hell and sharp as a freight train comin’ outta the dark.
I keep on toward the store, cautious but steady. When I get there, the clerk’s lookin’ a little nervous. Says they got a tornado warning for the Cherokee area and the west side of Limestone.
Ain’t It Late for This Kind of Weather?
Now I ain’t new to Alabama storms, but somethin’ about this felt off. Normally by now, it’s heat hangin’ heavy in the air, not tornadoes poppin’ off like firecrackers in March. But the weather’s been actin’ strange lately. Climate’s shiftin’, and this might be the new rhythm we gotta get used to.
Still, all this rain’s been good for the crops. That red clay’s drinkin’ it up like a thirsty mule.
Local farmers, gardens, folks tryin’ to grow their own—this rain’s been a blessing.
But when the sky turns mean and the sirens scream? Man, all you can do is say a prayer and hope everybody makes it through.

Tried to Record… But the Storm Had Other Plans
Once I made it back home, I figured I’d mess around in the studio a bit. Maybe lay down a track or work on that new blues idea I been hummin’ all week.
But with all that weather brewin’? Wind knockin’ at the windows, sirens still wailin’ now and then—couldn’t focus on nothin’ but that damn TV. Just tryin’ to keep up, tryin’ to stay safe.
Stay Safe, Stay Tuned, and Keep the Blues Playin’
That’s the truth of it down here in the South. You learn to roll with the sky—sunshine or sirens, you keep on goin'. You keep on singin'.
I pray everybody made it through that storm okay. And I pray you—wherever you are—got shelter, peace, and a song still in your chest.
Got a story like this? Storm rolled through your town and shook you up lately ?
Drop it in the comments.
Let’s swap weather tales, and a little love for this unpredictable life we live.
Stay strong, baby.
And keep the blues alive. 🎸🌪️
