Man, being at graduation the other day did something to me. Being around all them young folks, watching ‘em step across that stage at Drake State Technical College—it stirred something deep in me . You could see it on their faces: that electric joy, that mix of pride and nervous energy, like standing on the edge of a brand new world.
I felt it most when I looked at my daughter—grinning from ear to ear, glowing like the sunrise. My baby girl, walking across that stage with her nursing degree in hand. LPN, ready to get out here and help folks, take care of folks. She’s starting her path, her calling, and I couldn’t be prouder if I tried.

Some of her friends were there too—young women I remember running around back in high school. Hell, now they’re grown. Carrying themselves with strength, with purpose. It hit me all at once—despite all the chaos out here in the world, these kids are pushing forward. They ain't just surviving, they’re building something better.
And Lord knows, the world needs that. Right now, it’s a damn mess—wars, hate, greed, lies all over the place. Grown folks supposed to be steering the ship, but half the time we out here turning in circles. But when I look at this next generation... I feel something I ain't felt in a minute.
Hope.

Not the fluffy, wishful kind. I’m talkin’ the real stuff. That deep-rooted trust that these young people might just be the ones to fix what we couldn’t. They’re smart. They’re fearless. They see through the bullshit, and they ain’t afraid to speak on it.
So yeah—big shoutout to Drake State for holding these kids down, giving ‘em the tools, the training, and the space to shine. And even bigger love to the graduates. Y’all got next. This world’s heavy right now, but I believe in y’all to carry it better than we did.

Keep pushin'. Keep learnin'. Keep fightin' for something real.
To all the young folks out there—what’s your next step? What legacy do you want to leave behind? Speak on it in the comments. Let’s lift each other up.
