359: A Farewell to TikTok

Goodbye, TikTok. Another one bites the dust. Platforms come and go like a midnight trains. I’ve seen it before, and I’ll see it again.

Back in 2015, I took my first steps into the world of live streaming. The app was called Meerkat. Just a baby of an idea back then. From there, Periscope rolled in, bold and fresh. That’s where the rhythm started for me. I made a promise to myself—30 minutes live every night, no excuses. Nine o’clock, central time. That was my slot. Practice time turned into showtime, and those 30 minutes became a sacred habit.

Over the years, I’ve met countless faces through that little screen. Maybe hundreds of thousands. Maybe millions. Each one a moment, like a note in a big, messy song.

But, oh, the platforms—they’ve got a shelf life. Meerkat folded. Periscope said goodbye. Along the way, there was Busker, a sweet little app with some cool features. Even made me a bit of change. Then Blab came along with a big idea: four people on the screen at once. Back in 2016, that was a revelation. Now? It’s history.

And then came TikTok. Man, TikTok’s been a ride. Innovative, addictive, and full of life. I’ve met more folks, picked up some fans, and had a lot of laughs. Hate to see it go—it’s a spark that lit up the world for a while. But like every other app before it, it’s just a vehicle.

Here’s the blues truth: I don’t own these platforms. Maybe you do. But me? I’m just riding the rails, looking for Blues souls—fans and friends who want to stick around for the long haul. Platforms are temporary. Relationships? Those are eternal.

The big picture is this: platforms will come and go, but the journey? That’s all ours. If you’re Bluezin  with me, let’s stay connected. Join my fan club—my email list. It’s not some flash-in-the-pan. It’s home.

Platforms are fleeting, but the music? The music lives forever.

What’s your take? Got a favorite platform you still miss? Let me know in the comments. Let’s keep the conversation alive.
