I don’t know what the hell happened, but one day I woke up, grabbed a hammer, and just went to town. Outta nowhere, fixing things and working with tools —in the best way. Suddenly, I’m all about repairs, housework, and getting my hands dirty. Me. The guy who used to be chained to his phone and computer. Now? I barely miss the damn things.
I’ve been outside so much, I’m starting to wonder if my neighbors think I’m building a ark. I’ve hit the hardware store three times this week. THREE. I’m there picking up lumber, buying tools I don’t even know how to use yet, and loving every damn minute of it. There’s something earthy about it, you know? Working with your hands, sweating a little, making something outta nothing. Feels like new freedom.
Hell, I’ve even been thinking about laying brick. Never done it before, but I might give it a shot. Build me a barbecue pit or a little outdoor kitchen. Can you imagine? Cooking ribs in my own backyard setup? That sounds like a damn dream right there.

And then there’s the idea of a garden. I don’t know who I’m turning into, but this guy? He wants fresh tomatoes and herbs straight outta the dirt. Retirement does weird things to you. It’s been a couple years, and I’m still figuring it out. But apparently, it comes with time to try all this stuff I never thought about before.
I don’t know where this ride is going, but right now? I’m having a helluva time. It feels good to step back from the noise of the world and just do some shit. You know what I mean? There’s peace in the sweat.
What about you? You ever pick up something new and surprise the hell outta yourself? Drop me a line—I wanna hear about it. Let’s share a little joy, maybe trade some ideas. Life’s too short not to build something.
