Man, let me tell y'all somethin'.
I've been crossin' this old bridge from Mississippi over into Helena, Arkansas, for a good long while now.
And I don't care how many times I cross that son of a gun, there's somethin' about lookin' out over that big ol' muddy Mississippi River that just gets down in my soul.
Now, if you're headin' into Helena, take a good look off to your right.
You see that stretch of land sittin' down there along the river?
Well, hell, that ain't just any ol' piece of ground.
That's King Biscuit Country, baby!
That's where the King Biscuit Blues Festival has been bringin' folks together for over thirty-somethin' years. Guitars cryin', harmonicas moanin', and the blues rollin' through them streets like thunder on a hot Delta night.
And every time I cross this bridge, I look over that way and think, Man, wouldn't it be somethin' if I could just stand up here a minute and take in the whole damn view?
Well, today we can.
That's what I love about this 360-degree view. You can turn around, look out across that mighty river, and see a little piece of the country that helped keep the blues alive.
Ain't nothin' fancy about it.
Just an old river, a little Arkansas town, and a whole lotta music history soaked into that dirt.
But see, that's the thing about the blues.
Sometimes the most beautiful things in this world ain't dressed up in nothin' but mud, sweat, and memories.
That river's been rollin' long before any of us got here, and it'll keep on rollin' long after we're gone.
But the music?
Lord have mercy, that music's gonna keep rollin' right along with it.
So take a look around, y'all. Enjoy that view.
We're crossin' the mighty Mississippi, and there's a whole lotta blues waitin' on the other side.
Welcome to Helena, Arkansas.
Welcome to KING BISCUIT COUNTRY!
Now quit draggin' your feet...
LET'S BOOGIE, DAMMIT! πΈπ΄
How many of y'all have crossed this bridge headed to King Biscuit? And don't lie now β
