There comes a time when you just have to quit waitin' on the perfect words.
I had a feelin' today was the day to make a post.
Truth is, it's been a while. Not because there ain't been anything to say. Hell, it's been the opposite. Sometimes a man's got so much rattlin' around in his head he can't figure out which thought to grab . That'll bruise a man up if you let it. It'll lock you down tighter than an rusted gate. Before you know it, you've talked yourself right out of sayin' anything at all.
Well... we're bustin' through that shit today.
The Alabama heat has a funny way of teachin' patience. It slows everything down. The trees barely move. The dogs find shade and don't argue with the sun. Folks walk slower. Think a little longer. I believe I've been movin' right along with it.
Maybe that's not such a bad thing.
Slow ain't dead. Slow gives you room to listen. Gives us time to remember where you're headed.
So here we are. July 20. Finally puttin' words on the page again.
Next week I'll be headed over to Arkansas for summer camp, and I'm lookin' forward to it. I've got a few loose ends to tie up , make sure everything's squared away, and then it'll be time to load up and head out. Truth be told, most everything's already lined up. Just a little honest work left before the road.
Sometimes that's just life.
You keep your head down. You handle what's in front of you. You don't wait for inspiration to show up dressed in a Sunday suit. You say what's on your mind, even if it comes out a little dusty.
Because that's real.
And around here, real beats perfect every damn time.
So if you've been sittin' on something you've been meanin' to do, consider this your nudge. Don't let overthinkin' steal another day from you. Say it. Build it. Write it. Start it.
Life has a way of catchin' up.
How's this summer been treatin' you?
