Out here in the county, I’m reminded of one thing every time I pick up the saw—Mother Nature don’t care. She don’t care how good you cleaned it up last year. She don’t care how hard you worked. She’ll come right back around, grow it up wild, make it pretty and ugly all at once. A blessing and a headache, both in the same breath.
This year been one of those wet ones, and let me tell you—stuff grows like it’s been sipping moonshine. Blink, and three or four years of work looks like it never even happened. That’s just the way of it.

So here I go again. Cutting trees. Trimming back. Clearing paths before the weather turns. Got my boy out there with me this time. He’s hanging in, though every now and then I outwork him and he’s gotta sit down. I just laugh—‘cause that’s part of the game. That’s how you learn.
It ain’t glamorous, but it feels good to keep at it. Keeps me humble. Keeps me moving. And it reminds me—some things in life you just gotta do. Can’t talk it away, can’t plan it away. You pick up your tools, put your back into it, and the land teaches you what it wants you to know.

Mother Nature don’t care. But maybe that’s the point. She keeps on pushing, and so do we.
So tell me—what’s grown wild in your world that you’ve had to cut back lately?
