Today is a special day. It's the grand opening day for my new Amazon storefront online. It is also my mom's birthday. February one. I remember last year when she celebrated her 87th birthday. She had a cake and she had cake all over her hands and all over her face. She had a great birthday. and 16 days later, she passed away.
I thought it would be cool to celebrate this day with memories of her by opening my store. She would be so proud to know that I opened the store on her birthday.
My mama and her mother, Melinda, we're both ambitious black women. My grandmother kept me most of the time. She always had her hustle on. She made and sold dresses, and sold cosmetics and a little whisky too. She would be so happy to know that I made a move to open an online store, or a store of any kind. Everything helps every little bit, my grandma would say. Do all you can because every little bit helps. That's what my mama would say.
I've been dealing with Amazon for about four years now selling T-shirts in the Amazon merch program. And the opportunity came along to expand on it. So I was accepted as an influencer. And this is my new online storefront. I would rather deal with an online store rather than brick and mortar because I really want to concentrate on making music.
Music has become so that anywhere you can make money is helpful. People don't buy records as much as they used to. So you have to give yourself your own 360 Deal. Meaning make money all the way around in any way that an artist can make money, be that a clothing line or merchandise of any kind. So it just makes sense for me to take advantage of this opportunity with Amazon. I've done pretty good with the T shirts on Amazon, people ordering my T shirts over the last few years. Now I get an opportunity to expand on it.
So I'm smiling today. Now, what I have to do is learn how to build it. I'm still learning about the company, Amazon. It's a big operation for Amazon and it's different than anything I ever expected but it seems like it's gonna be fun. I aim to provide some useful deals and curate products for musicians and my fans. I'm excited today to say Happy grand opening to me.Join in the celebration.
