HOPS WILD GONE WILD FOR THE BLUES

I got a call from Salina . She been working with me for several years now , she does booking entertainment for several clubs in Huntsville . She invited me to play at this new pace called Hops Wild and it definately was wild.

When I got there they were sliding big glasses of beer down the bar to the other end and laughing and just having an a damn ball. I was stunned to see people having this much fun in Hsv. The sound man set me up in the corner and did the setup . I started playing that low down dirty south blues and they all wanted to get in . I only had one washboard and shaker handy and they started shake it .

I could tell some of these young white kids had never experienced the Delta groove before , but it didn't take long before the got right in on it.

I told the bartender to hook me up with  something fresh for the night and he put me right on point . His name was Tower. He was a tall weird looking dude but man he knew his beer. I even met a guy there from another Brewery talking about booking me to play at their place. We had a Hops Wild time at the Hops wild . I hope they invite me back.

Celebrating 1000 Periscope followers

Periscope to me was just a test to see if I could hit the broadcast button . I am not a in front of the camera type person and certainly not willing to be on camera consistently . I paced the floor for a few days on this one before i started and on the first day I met some folks that knew of me from my street performing at the Bridge Street mall . I was embarrassed to say the least. But they were kids , teenagers and I had come to learn that they are the record buyers of the future , if I persist they would come along with me .

I know that in order to hold an audience there were three things i had to consider , Before anyone would give me their time they must get something back from it ,something educational or entertaining or something that gives them power. So i decided to let them watch my hands while I play guitar ,that's my way of teaching or educating. Next i started to make up songs on the fly , that's entertaining to some , they like to hear me sing their words .I then started to offer them tips and tricks to overcome their shyness and start to do their own scopes. It started growing and growing .

I started offering praise for participating and recognizing their involvement and they kept coming back and soon we started feeling like a community , they actually know each other. It was amazing to watch it grow . I asked them to help to hit the 1000 follower milestone and they started sharing even more.I know it could have happened faster but I want to  build a solid group.

It's a lot of fun building the relationships on periscope because they are from all over the world , not just local fans. I hope to reach even more.BLUES VIPS all over the world .Thank you all.

Is there anything more that you would like to see from me on periscope ?

Happy Birthday to me ?

Happy birthday to me. Today is my birthday. I have been getting birthday wishes from my fans, family and friends. Some of them are asking me what I would like for my birthday. To me all I really want is happiness. And I already got most of that.

I got a call early this morning from my friend in Atlanta Mr Beavers. Mr. Beavers is my old bass player. One of the best bass players I've ever worked with. He wished me happy birthday but mostly he was excited about working with a new rock band. I even got birthday wishes from some of my Blues VIP club members. Thank you all very much.

I don't know how to explain it, but really I don't want anything unusual for my birthday basically. I guess I'm pretty happy just as I am. Gifts are nice, but not necessary for me. I really do feel good just the way things are. I'm glad to be here. Im having fun still working on keeping that Blues fire burning around the world with new music. Happy Birthday to me .

Snow all gone now back to work

I got a call today from a local venu about playing this weekend . I was happy to get it . I've enjoyed a few slow weeks now thru the holiday season and even enjoyed a little snow in Al, now its time to crank the Blues tractor up and plow again.I drove by this place over on Jordan Ln called the HotSpot and right behind it is a place called the Junk Yard. I went in to leave my card last week and ran into an old friend. Rachael , a charming lady and a great maitre d . She was glad to see me and said she would pass the word on to the owners . She called today. Its a nice place and got at cool location on west side of town. I hope to be playing there this weekend. If you in town this weekend and wanting a place to get your blues on , come on in .

The Big experiment

I was feeling kind of frisky tonight and thought I would go on periscope and offer a special song to my fans who immediately went over to the website and joined the fan list . I was blown away by the comments that came in from it , and a generous donation . Its hard to hit that broadcast button sometime when you got a lot of personal insecurities like I do. Anytime I can share a little time with my distant fans and offer them something special i'll try.

FROZEN WATER PIPE ?

Water was everywhere , all over the wash room and running out thru the garage . I was like Dang! I followed the water to see how far it had ran to get an idea how long the pipe been broke and it had been running for a while. What a way to start the day. I went to Wally Mart to see if the had a fix for the pipe but there was nothing there that I  could use . So off to the Lowes. I was too bad to fix but it took a while and totally rearranged my morning . Got my feet all wet and shoes and stuff. Finally got it . Now lets get back to some Blues.

The world just keeps on turning

I woke up this morning to the sound of my son cussing out his girlfriend on the the phone . Its was a beautiful sound to hear. I had started a virus scan on my computer and I was anxious to see what it found and to my surprise it found nothing.

Its so cold today that I think I'm gonna wrap my water pipes and get ready for the next few days. Its slow going here in AL. today. I have been talking to my son about helping me with my music business this year since he changed his mind again about the military . If he is going to hang around here , I told him to get back in school or take over my Hot Dog stand, the choice is his . It must me fun to be his age and his only concern  is getting a girl. And the world just keeps on turning. That wound be a cool theme for a song . I think I'm gonna write it .

Cold in Alabama tonight ?

I always love this time of year in the south. I think we need the cold days to purify the air for the spring and summer days that come.I was putting on my clothes and wondered if I had on enough to get thru this cold day. It seems like last week it was raining and this week its  cold .  All the water still not gone from the flash flooding last week. I went for my walk today 2mi.  It went well, but I did have on an extra coat.

Year winding on down

I was on Blab last night and ran into some life coaches. They were going off about making a treasure map for the future and how to vizualize and all that kinda stuff. I was actually about to get involved when I heard one of the coaches call himself a creator. I was shocked. I'm not a super religious type person who makes religion into a maze of understanding but I think its bold to consider the process of creation as ones own.

I know when I write a song its difficult to think that the words and ideas come from somewhere other than me . The older I become it seems the more aware I am that there is process at work that has nothing to do with me. I can only credit the work with a higher power of some kind . Lets call it GOD. I dont want to take credit for the work that it does thru me . I just hope that this new year that I can allow it to do more thru me. Ill offer some direction . What are you hoping for this New Year 2016 ?

Shit blew up lastnight

I don't know what happened last night but things just blew up on the periscope. I had already finished up a scope earlier lastnight and I thought Ill just do one more for the low down folks . I was kinda sleepy and laid back and I started to play some old school tunes and they came in on me . I met folks from all over , they all got in the groove with me . We had a ball . I was introduced to a Bass man from up North he was on the way to Bham to do a show . I met some really cool peeps , they was all up mighty late. My friend LoveAlvacados came by to visit from NC . He is one of my pledging VIPS and he wants his buttons asap. They don't realize just how far behind I am with this new media thing but im still in the game . I woke up this morning with 66 new followers . LIke BooM ! I'm still amazed that its still real Blues fans out there who want to keep this old skool music alive . Its so inspiring to be able to reach these folks . Like shit just blew up !
